Rapid Increase of Cancer

The “rate of cancer” is increasing in Pakistan. “World Health Organization reported that mouth cancer” is increasing continuously in Pakistan. The “rate of mouth cancer” in Karachi has reached 30%. According to WHO every 8th death of all over the world is due to this menace.

80 Million People Died of Cancer

Every year more than 80 million people died due to “various types of cancer”. According to the global report, over 20 million people of the world will suffer from other types of cancer including mouth till 2030. Experts says that the “main causes of cancer” are variable changes in human genes which are causing cancer. The cancer rate in Pakistan is increasing, and in this regard Pakistan is the leading country in Asia, regarding this menace. 15 years ago, the victims of mouth cancer were the people of 50 years and above age. But in Pakistan due to the usage of pan, gutta, cigarette, challya, now there is sharp increase of cancer in the teen ages people. Every year, there are 148,000 cases of other cancer along with mouth cancer are recorded. According to the International Institute for Cancer Research (IARC), there were 28.2 million cancer patients worldwide, out of which 10.5 million people died.

Health Experts Contemplated Some Elements

Health experts say that some elements found in diet, such as aflatoxin, radiation effects, electromagnetic rays, viral infections, aerial and nutritional pollution, food chemicals, genetically converted foods, pan, chalya, Smoking cigarette, shisha etc. are causing cancer. Prof. Muhammad Usman, the head of ENT, at Jinnah Hospital, told Express News that 70% to 75% of mouth cancer in Pakistan is due to Pan, Chalya, Gutka, Mainpuri, Tobacco, Shisha, Sniffer (Naswar), and Drinks also include. In mouth cancer Pakistan is on the top, while India is on 2nd position in this menace. In Asia Pakistan is the 2nd country facing mouth cancer. The number of cancer patients in India has also became a panic. Mouth cancer is a horrific headache in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh also, countries where Pan, Chalya, Mainpuri, Gutka are used mouth, throat and jaw cancer are intensifying in those countries. Annually 3 lacs and 50,000 people in Pakistan are reported in mouth cancer. The main reason for mouth cancer is the use of wet chalaya. The Fungus appears in the wet chalya, which contains specific poisonous substances. These poisonous substances are called Aflatoxin. It causes cancer and the common people are unaware of it. They have described Wet Chalya as extremely dangerous. But the use of wet chalya in Asian countries has become common. While sniffer, shisha, pan, and other hazaradous substances like gutka, Mainpuri are also including. The use of these substances causes cancer of mouth, throat and jaw, which is rapidly increasing. Prof. Usman, head of ENT Unit 2 at Jinnah Hospital, said that our unit is operating 60 mouth cancer cases monthly, he said that the use of chalaya, manpuri and gutka in women in the rural areas has increased significantly. Now women of rural areas are also reported in mouth cancer. He said that in Asian countries mouth, throat, and jaw cancer is increasing rapidly due to the main reasons of using Pan, Chalya, Gutka and Mainpuri. Those countries in which Chalya, Mainpuri is used those countries have rapid increase in cancer cases.
He said India is nowadays on the first position facing cancer. He said, "Jinnah Hospital has installed modern machinary regarding cancer treatment". He said children should be kept away from Chalya, Supari and Mainpuri. Chalya affects the membrane of the mouth, due to the affection mouth opening process is severely affected.
